It's an exciting day here at Family Cluster as we roll out Family Cluster Beta 2.  We would like to thank each and everyone of you who took the time to report bugs, suggest features, and ask for help.  Believe it or not, we were able to improve the site considerably by those of you who asked, "how do I ...", type questions.  We owe you a debt of gratitude.Now on to the changes:Menus / Navigation There are two menus available for navigation:  Primary links (pages to visit and read) and the Actions menu (things to do)Forums Previously Family Cluster used the forums to track support issues.  Support issues will no longer be tracked via the forum. Family Cluster has a rich and colorful user base from all walks of life.  The forums are a place to share and discuss various topics with other users.  Forum topics are not private and are accessible by all users. Family Posts Family posts are the bread and butter of Family Cluster.  With family posts you share the latest news and discuss privately with relatives.  You can add one more item on the list of what family posts can do:  upload photos.  Previously you had to create a gallery in order to share photos.  Gallery's were removed recently but now they're back as a part of family posts. Photo Gallery The photo gallery is back.  In the original Beta release you created a gallery post.  Now you can add pictures to any family post.  There is a link to the photo gallery, titled Photos, in the primary links.  This is organized by user name, then by post subject. User Roles Family Cluster will consist of several user levels.  The basic role, authenticated user, will be free to everyone.  You will have the choice to upgrade your role, which will give you access to more or expanded features.  Some of the features that have been freely available have been removed from the free, authenticated user, role.  During the Beta 2 phase you will not have an option to upgrade to a premium role.  Upgrading your role is planned for Beta 3.  We plan to give free upgrades to all dedicated beta testers who took the time to use the system and report feedback. Creating Family Clusters You are now able to create your own family clusters.  To create a family cluster, click the create content link in the actions menu, then click family cluster.  Follow the instructions and submit your new family.  All new family clusters must be approved by Family Cluster before going live.  When you create a family cluster you are assigned the role of family manager.  You can only be the family manager of two family clusters. WYSIWYG Editor WYSIWYG, "What you see is what you get", is a handy tool to create posts.  This is a feature that has been available for free, however, this feature will be reserved for upgraded roles.  The WYSIWYG editor will not be available during Beta 2. Reporting Inappropriate Content Family Cluster is a family friendly website.  As a community we need to police ourselves to ensure Family Cluster is safe and appropriate for all ages.  A new link is at the bottom of all family posts, polls, and forum topics, titled Flag as offensive.  Clicking this will send a report to the moderators for review.  If a post receives more than three flags it will be unpublished automatically. Beta 3We will begin working on Beta 3 soon.  We will let the new changes settle and allow you to continue to use Family Cluster.  Please continue to report all bugs, suggest features, and ask support questions.  This will help us identify what work needs to be done for the Beta 3 upgrade. Thank you all.  We appreciate your effort to help make Family Cluster the best family website on the web.
